Dold new Piners' boy coach
The face of North Bay League boys soccer continues to change.
Piner High has announced that Matt Dold will take over in the fall as the head Prospectors' boys soccer coach. Dold comes to Piner after spending the past six seasons as an assistant to Maria Carrillo High's girls' coach Debra LaParth.
Was that time spent on the Puma sidelines a learning experience for Dold?
He didn't hesitant in answering. "For sure," Dold said.
Dold, a 2002 graduate of Maria Carrillo, played only his senior season in high school. Ironically, that was the year the Pumas, odds-on favorites to win the NCS title, were kept out of the tournament altogether for playing too many regular season games.
So, how will the Prospectors stack up in Dold's first season?
"I think we should have some very good players," Dold said, "but the key will be making grades. We'll see what happens in the classroom."
